You may receive multiple late notices after your loan repayment is due, reminding you to submit repayment. If you do not repay the loan in a timely manner, your account will be transferred to the State of Maryland’s Central Collections Unit (CCU) for collection. If that occurs, you will be responsible for CCU’s standard collection fee, which will equal 17% of the loan amount. CCU allows borrowers to set up payment plans if they are not able to pay back the full amount at once. Once a debt is transferred to CCU, CCU may report the debt to consumer reporting agencies. Debts referred to these agencies may affect your credit rating.
